2010 so far...
This year has been a year of continued growth and progress in supporting women who are facing unplanned pregnancy and those suffering from post-abortion syndrome. We have heard some wonderful stories of girls whose lives have been changed because of the work the Providence Foundation is doing....some of which we hope to share with you in the future.
Our objectives this year have been to progress in the following areas:
Housing
We are currently investigating potential house locations in Melbourne and country Victoria to help support girls facing unwanted pregnancies who have no support network. Our goal is to provide them with a supportive and loving environment and to teach them life skills, help them with their continued education and prepare them for the transition to motherhood.
The policies and procedures for the houses were kindly donated by Nathan House in Toowoomba, and are being adapted for the Providence Foundation. This has saved us hours of work, and we would like to thank Nathan House for their generosity and support!
Education
The education program is being finalised and will be piloted in 6 schools during the second half of this year. We anticipate this program reaching 100s of kids this year between Grades 5-10, and then officially launching the program into the wider school community for the start of the 2011 school year. A huge thank you to the amazing and talented team who have put this program together, including Liesl, Fiona, Pete and Ash!
Media
The song 'Silent Cry' written by Jud Field and performed by Amy K has been in the top 80 most played songs on radio across Australia for the year! We have heard many stories of how this powerful song has touched people's lives and encouraged them to reach out for help. Thank you to Jud, Amy and Anton Bekker of Lewis Holdway Lawyers and Wes J of Woodlands Media for their amazing work with this!
